Whenever the question arises of what to eat and what not, it is also associated with whether to eat halal food or non-halal as halal food is relatively expensive compared with non-halal food.

However, the increase in the inflation rate worldwide has somehow made halal and non-halal food prices the same. Whether you look for readymade halal food from a restaurant or meat to cook at home, their prices are similar daily.

This article will give insight into how halal and non-halal food prices are increasing, their impacts, and what online Quran teachers must explain basic eating etiquette.

Increase in the Prices of Non-Halal Food in International Food Chain Restaurants

In the past few years, the difference between the prices of halal and non-halal has been significant. People had to think twice about buying halal food. However, recently, restaurants and hotels have increased the prices of non-halal food, which has bought both foods to equal prices.

In the past 14 years, McDonald’s has increased the prices of its cheeseburger from 99p to £1.19 for the first time. According to the authorities, the company was holding the price increase as long as possible. But now they had to increase the prices due to the rapid increase in inflation worldwide.

In an email to its customers, the authorities of McDonald’s have stated that the increasing rates of fuels, ingredients, and wages have been at its fastest pace compared to the previous 40 years, which has led the owners to make such tough decisions.

Basic Eating Etiquettes in Islam

Eating halal food is the primary factor taught in Quran lessons online when choosing the food to eat. However, some other etiquettes are also defined in Islam which are briefly described as follows:

1.    Keep Yourself for the Meal

Whenever it is time to have a meal, prepare yourself to have it. Here are the steps to get ready for the meal:

  • Wash your hands properly and sit to eat the meal.
  • While having a meal, make sure you sit straight. Do not lie down or lean back while having your meal. It is stated in the Hadith by the messenger of Allah:

“I don’t have a meal while I’m reclining.”

  • While eating your food, it is good to sit on the floor and bend your knees as it is Though, it is not mandatory.

2.    Always Eat with the Right Hand

According to Islam, right-handed eating is compulsory, as Shaytan eats food with the left. Or, if you are suffering from any illness or can’t eat the food with your right hand, you can have it with your left hand.

3.    Say ‘Bismillah’

Before starting your meal, always recite Bismillah, which means you start your food with Allah’s name, and He will surely make your food a blessing for you. Even if you forget to recite ‘Bismillah’ in the beginning, you can recite it in the middle of your food.
